        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has called on the United States and Iran\nto continue exercising restraint and to remain committed to an agreed\nceasefire, following a resurgence of warfare escalation this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe certainly want to continue pushing for the parties to immediately\nreturn to the negotiating table and realise a ceasefire once again,\u201d\nsaid Indonesia\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister, Arrmanatha Nasir, at the\nParliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian\nHouse of Representatives (DPR RI), the Deputy Foreign Minister stated\nthat Indonesia deeply regrets that the US and Iran have instead returned\nto mutual attacks and armed conflict, creating new tensions in the\nStrait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the ongoing war impacts not only the populations of\nthe conflicting nations, namely the US and Iran, but also many other\ncountries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe once again call for all parties to immediately return to a\nceasefire and engage in negotiations,\u201d the Indonesian Deputy Foreign\nMinister added.<\/p>\n<p>Clashes between Iranian and United States (US) forces broke out in\nthe early hours of Thursday (11\/6) local time in the waters of the\nPersian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, while the Khatam al-Anvil Central\nHeadquarters announced the full closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as\nreported by Xinhua.<\/p>\n<p>Initial reports indicate that several US vessels near the Strait of\nHormuz were targeted by missile and drone attacks launched by the\nIranian armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>Explosions were also reported in the Sirik and Minab regions, as well\nas the port city of Bandar Abbas, all located in Hormozgan Province, as\nwell as on Qeshm and Hengam islands.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Iranian air defence systems were activated in the western\nregion of the capital, Tehran, and in Fars Province in southern Iran,\naccording to the semi-official Iranian news agency, Mehr.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters\nstated that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to all types of\nvessels, including oil tankers and merchant ships, due to security\nthreats along the shipping lane.<\/p>\n<p>The regional tension, which began on 28 February following joint\nUS-Israeli attacks on Iran, has triggered a series of military\nconfrontations, retaliatory strikes, and diplomatic tensions.<\/p>",
