        "content": "<p>Chengdu (ANTARA) - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China\nhas stated that it will open the Indonesian Consulate General in\nChengdu, southwest China, to strengthen Indonesia\u2019s network of\nrepresentatives in the bamboo curtain country.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to China, Djauhari\nOratmangun, in a keynote speech at the \u201cLatest Developments in Indonesia\n\u2013 Chengdu 2026\u201d event held on Friday (17\/4) in Chengdu, said that the\nexpansion of the network is being carried out following more than a\ndecade during which China has become an important partner for\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor more than a decade, China has been one of Indonesia\u2019s largest\ntrading partners as well as an important source of investment,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Djauhari officially announced that preparations for the establishment\nof the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Chengdu are\nunderway.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, the consulate general will be centred in Chengdu and\nwill cover Sichuan as well as several areas in western China such as\nShaanxi, Yunnan, Gansu, and Chongqing.<\/p>\n<p>According to Djauhari, Chengdu is not only a city that is comfortable\nto live in, but also an important centre for innovation and industrial\ndevelopment, thus having unique advantages in connecting Indonesia with\nwestern China regions.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the opening of the consulate general is not merely\nan addition of a diplomatic institution, but also reflects Indonesia\u2019s\nsignificant attention to the development potential of western China\nregions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChengdu will become an important bridge between Indonesia and\nwestern China,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The event, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in\nChina, carried the theme \u201cStepping Together, Building Resilience\u201d and\nserved as a forum for exchanging views on Indonesia\u2019s economic\ndevelopment focus and Indonesia-China cooperation opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, at the event, Indonesia also conveyed plans to further\nopen up sectors such as renewable energy, downstream industry, food\nsecurity, digital economy, healthcare services, and the development of\nthe new capital city.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia and Sichuan are also considered to have broad room for\ncooperation in the fields of bio-pharmaceuticals, green energy, green\ntechnology, as well as trade and investment.<\/p>\n<p>Several companies assess that the opening of the Consulate General of\nthe Republic of Indonesia in Chengdu will become an important fulcrum in\nencouraging companies to expand abroad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSichuan has advantages in health, high technology, and artificial\nintelligence, while Indonesia has abundant resources. This becomes the\nbasis for both parties to build industrial chain synergies,\u201d said Yuan\nFei, head of Sichuan Shuyinqiao Business Service Co., Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, his company has established the Indonesian National\nPavilion at the Chengdu International Railway Port to promote Indonesian\nproducts entering the Chinese market while providing support for Sichuan\ncompanies that wish to invest in Indonesia through a two-way model,\nnamely bringing in and stepping out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSichuan and Indonesia both have very rich tourism resources that\ncomplement each other. In the last two years, more and more of my\nfriends from Indonesia have come to Sichuan to enjoy unique scenery such\nas snow-capped mountains and glaciers,\u201d said Jia Hang, Deputy Head of\nthe International Department of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation\nMultifunctional Trade Platform, to reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Jia added that from an industrial structure perspective, both parties\nare also highly complementary. Indonesia is rich in resources such as\npetroleum, minerals, and forests, while Sichuan has advantages in energy\nprocessing and industrial systems, so both can form strong interactions\nin industrial development stages.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, Sichuan Zhihecheng Group cooperated with Indonesia\u2019s Aladin\nGroup to establish ZHC Aladin International Co., Ltd., which has\ninvested in two car dealerships and one three-main-system electric\nvehicle maintenance centre (battery, motor, and electronic control\nsystem) in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very optimistic about developments in Indonesia. Currently,\nZHC Aladin has more than 130 employees in Jakarta and the number\ncontinues to grow,\u201d said Vice President of Sichuan Zhihecheng Group,\nZhang Ying.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Zhang accompanied partners from Indonesia to visit several\ninstitutions and companies in Chengdu in the fields of health and\ndrones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndonesia is known as an archipelagic country, so it has a large\ndemand for drones for logistics, forest fire prevention, and mining\ninspections, while Chengdu has many innovative companies in the drone\nsector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, economic, trade, and people-to-people exchange\nrelations between Sichuan and Indonesia have become increasingly active.\nIn 2017, the \u201cOverseas Chengdu\u201d workstation in Indonesia was established\nin Jakarta with the support of the Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneurs\nAssociation.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, direct flights between Chengdu and Jakarta were opened,\ngreatly facilitating mobility between the two parties. Currently,\nseveral Sichuan companies such as New Hope Group, Dongfang Electric,\nOriental Hope Group, Tongwei Group, and Bamo Technology have established\nstable business cooperation in Indonesia.<\/p>",
