Indonesia to attends IDEA meeting<\/p>\n

Indonesia will attend a ministerial meeting on Aug. 12 in Tokyo,
\nJapan, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Association
\nof South East Asia Nations and Japan, South Korea and China
\n(ASEAN+3).<\/p>\n
Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marty Nata
\nLegawa said on Friday that Minister of Foreign Affairs Hasan
\nWirajuda would represent Indonesia at the meeting.<\/p>\n
The meeting is called the Initiative for Development in East
\nAsia (IDEA) ministerial meeting.<\/p>\n
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by its Minister
\nYoriko Kawaguchi would host the meeting, said Marty.<\/p>\n
He added that foreign and development ministers from ASEAN,
\nSouth Korea and China would also be present at the meeting.<\/p>\n
Marty went on to explain that IDEA was a new initiative
\nlaunched by the Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in
\nJanuary, 2002 when he visited the ASEAN countries.<\/p>\n
IDEA is aimed at developing cooperation in ASEAN+3, he said.<\/p>\n
It was also a consultative forum to discuss various issues
\nranging from development policies, economic problems to regional
\ndevelopment vision, he added.<\/p>\n
The forum would also address an assessment on the procedures
\nand capital availability for Asian development, said Marty.<\/p>\n
In addition, IDEA would help technology and skills transfers
\nas well as exchanges of views on multilateral development through
\nthe dissemination of the forum's results, he added.<\/p>",
