        "content": "<p>Beijing (ANTARA) - Indonesia is targeting an initial issuance of US$1\nbillion in Panda Bonds in China to diversify development financing\nsources and support rupiah stability, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi\nSadewa said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur initial target is around US$1 billion, but we will see what the\nmarket looks like. If demand is larger, we will increase it,\u201d he said in\nBeijing on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Purbaya made the remarks after meetings with Chinese Finance Minister\nLan Fo\u2019an, officials from the People\u2019s Bank of China (PBOC),\nrepresentatives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and\ninvestors during his June 16\u201319 visit to China.<\/p>\n<p>He said support from China\u2019s central bank has strengthened prospects\nfor the issuance, with book-building expected to begin once regulatory\napproval is granted.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia is also exploring the use of bilateral local currency\narrangements with China to facilitate direct yuan-rupiah transactions\nand help reduce pressure on the rupiah.<\/p>\n<p>He added that China\u2019s Finance Ministry has expressed strong support\nfor the plan, which is expected to provide Indonesia with access to one\nof the world\u2019s largest bond markets.<\/p>\n<p>Panda Bonds provide foreign governments and companies access to\nChina\u2019s large and liquid financial market.
