        "content": "<p>Indonesia\u2019s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has\nunveiled a 2026 strategy to strengthen seafood exports, helping local\nbusinesses meet new US and EU certification requirements while expanding\ninto global markets.<\/p>\n<p>KKP\u2019s Director of Marketing at the Directorate General for\nStrengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products\n(PDSPKP), Erwin Dwiyana, said the ministry will assist exporters in\ncomplying with EU catch certificate and processing statement rules, as\nwell as US Certificate of Admissibility requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are encouraging seafood businesses to maintain high product\nquality and safety while promoting sustainability and global\ncompetitiveness,\u201d Dwiyana stated.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry is also negotiating US approval for Indonesia\u2019s\ngillnet-caught crab under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric\nAdministration\u2019s Comparability Finding, aimed at preventing export\ndelays under new regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Other initiatives include trade missions, international product\npromotions, and business matchmaking events.<\/p>\n<p>Exporters are encouraged to leverage zero-per-cent tariffs under the\nIndonesia\u2013Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJ-EPA) for processed\ntuna and skipjack, effective after Q1 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Tariff reduction talks are ongoing with partners in North America,\nSouth Asia, the Middle East, Eurasia, and Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s seafood exports reached US$6.27 billion in 2025, up 5.2\nper cent from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The United States was the largest market at US$1.99 billion, led by\nshrimp exports worth US$1.87 billion.<\/p>\n<p>According to the national statistics agency BPS, Indonesia\u2019s fishery\ntrade surplus stood at US$5.6 billion in 2025, a 3 per cent increase\nyear-on-year.<\/p>",
