        "content": "<p>\u201cIndonesia is committed to playing an active role in pushing for\naviation services integration between ASEAN and China to support\neconomic, tourism, and regional aviation industry growth,\u201d Director\nGeneral of Air Transport Lukman F. Laisa stated in his remarks on\nSunday.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks were conveyed in relation to the 17th ASEAN\u2013China Working\nGroup on Regional Air Services Arrangements (ACWG-RASA) meeting, hosted\nby Indonesia\u2019s Transportation Ministry, in Yogyakarta on July 7-9,\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to Laisa, the meeting was a strategic medium to strengthen\nregional cooperation for more open, safe, and competitive air\nconnectivity while at the same time strengthening Indonesia\u2019s position\nin the regional air transport network.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that during the ASEAN-China Airlines Forum, participants\nhighlighted strategic issues, including the roles of air cargo in\ne-commerce development, challenges in ASEAN-China aviation cooperation\namid global tension, and airport slot allocation in airports.<\/p>\n<p>The forum issued several recommendations on improving slot\nflexibility, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) mechanisms, visa\nand immigration processes, aviation security and safety regulations, and\ncapacity building.<\/p>\n<p>Separate caucuses also took place to discuss four main issues, namely\nthe ratification of Protocol 3 in the ASEAN-China Air Transport\nAgreement (P2 AC-ATA), liberalization of the Fifth Freedom rights in\nASEAN-China cargo services, safety and operational aspects in the AC-ATA\nimplementation, and flight management.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia, as the lead country for the ASEAN-China cooperation, also\npresented technical cooperation proposals in the unmanned aircraft\nsystems sector.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, during the 17th ACWG-RASA plenary session, participants\nreached consensus on several points, including the reactivation of\nMakassar as a point in the P3 AC-ATA and the expansion of the Fifth\nFreedom rights by involving four main cargo hubs in China.<\/p>\n<p>The Yogyakarta meeting was attended by 61 delegates from ASEAN\ncountries and China and 127 representatives from regional aviation\nindustry actors and stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Government plans 39 new airports to boost air\nconnectivity<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia adds 53 flight routes to improve\nconnectivity<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia strengthens 3TP connectivity with pioneer air\nsubsidies<\/p>\n<p>Translator: M Harianto, Nabil Ihsan<\/p>",
