        "content": "<p>The four are biosecurity, digital traceability, pre-border\ncooperation, and fast clearance systems.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Barantin Abdul Kadir Karding said in an official statement\nreceived on Saturday that upgrading the quarantine systems is essential\nto enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian commodities in the\ninternational market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat the market looks for first is quality, second is biosecurity,\nthird is traceability, and fourth\u2014and most importantly\u2014is trust,\u201d he\nstressed during the opening of the Nusatic, Nusapet, and Nusahorti 2026\nexhibition in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the global market currently demands a paradigm\nshift in trade, particularly regarding quality, safety, traceability,\nand trust, adding that biosecurity is a mandatory requirement for\nbusinesses looking to expand internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Karding noted that the implementation of quarantine standards and\nimprovements in the trade system have boosted international market\nconfidence in several of Indonesia\u2019s biological commodities, including\nornamental fish.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that a stronger trading ecosystem resulting from these\nfour upgraded systems has the potential to position Indonesia as a\nleader in the global ornamental fish trade.<\/p>\n<p>To safeguard the quality of Indonesia\u2019s ornamental fish, Barantin is\nalso pushing the implementation of Good Fish Quarantine Practices\n(CKIB).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, 128 ornamental fish quarantine facilities with CKIB\ncertification have been recognized by the General Administration of\nCustoms of China (GACC),\u201d Karding revealed.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that Barantin\u2019s transformation is being driven by a shift\nfrom manual inspections to a risk-based approach.<\/p>\n<p>This transformation also includes transitioning from paper-based\ndocumentation to digital integration, as well as moving away from\npassive post-border controls to active, preventive pre-border\nenforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond its enforcement functions, the agency also serves as a trade\nfacilitator by assisting companies, opening market access, and\naccelerating quarantine services.<\/p>\n<p>According to Karding, accelerating these processes can reduce costs,\nwhile implementing biosecurity and traceability measures can boost\nmarket confidence, ultimately driving higher prices.<\/p>\n<p>He affirmed that his agency continues to coordinate with the Ministry\nof Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Agriculture, the\nNational Research and Innovation Agency, industry players, exporters,\nand the legislature to strengthen the quarantine system and enhance the\ncompetitiveness of Indonesia\u2019s export commodities.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia alerts quarantine offices over hantavirus\nthreat<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Indonesia tightens livestock monitoring before Eid\nal-Adha<\/p>\n<p>Translator: Aria Ananda, Raka Adji<\/p>",
