        "content": "<p>Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said Indonesia is\nprojected to become the world\u2019s fourth-largest aviation market by\n2030.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the global aircraft market remains highly promising.\nData from McKinsey &amp; Company shows that total global aircraft orders\nreached a record high of 15,700 units in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the International Air Transport Association (IATA),\nIndonesia is projected to become the world\u2019s fourth-largest aviation\nmarket by 2030,\u201d the minister said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the International Civil Aviation Organization estimates\nIndonesia\u2019s domestic flights and passenger numbers will grow\nsignificantly, reaching around 7.4 million flights and nearly 690\nmillion passengers by 2045.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, through this Joint Declaration of Intent, the government\naims to build strong collaboration that not only produces a strategic\nframework but also delivers tangible technology transfer and increases\nlocal content in the aircraft manufacturing industry,\u201d Kartasasmita\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between the\nMinistry of National Development Planning\/National Development Planning\nAgency (PPN\/Bappenas) and aircraft manufacturer Airbus is expected to\nstrengthen human resource capacity in aerospace technology.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement will also enhance the maintenance, repair, and overhaul\nsystem and strengthen Indonesia\u2019s role in the global aerospace supply\nchain, he added.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the Ministry of National Development Planning signed\nthe Joint Declaration of Intent with Airbus to support the development\nof Indonesia\u2019s aerospace industry ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of National Development Planning\/Head of Bappenas Rachmat\nPambudy emphasized that as an archipelagic country, Indonesia relies\nheavily on air connectivity to support economic growth, equitable\ndevelopment, and public mobility.<\/p>\n<p>He said technological innovation and aircraft operational efficiency\nare crucial to meeting these needs.<\/p>\n<p>Pambudy added that the collaboration must go beyond aircraft\nprocurement to include human resource development, strengthening the\nmaintenance, repair, and overhaul sector, and expanding domestic\nindustrial capacity to position Indonesia as a regional aerospace\nhub.<\/p>\n<p>As a follow-up to the agreement, Airbus will collaborate with PT\nDirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and Bandung Institute of Technology\n(ITB).<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration will be integrated with Airbus and supported by\nministries, state-owned enterprises, universities, and the private\nsector, aiming to position Indonesia as a hub for aerospace growth in\nthe Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n<p>Pambudy expressed hope that PT Dirgantara Indonesia can become a\ntier-one supplier for Airbus, enabling it to manufacture complete\naircraft wings or even aircraft, with the possibility of establishing a\nproduction facility in Kertajati, West Java.<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Lawmaker urges regulatory review to boost Indonesia\u2019s\nMRO sector<\/p>\n<p>Related news: Airport optimization key to equitable growth across\nIndonesia: AHY<\/p>\n<p>Translator: Suharsana Aji C, Resinta Sulistiyandari<\/p>",
