The officers, including veterinarians and paramedical personnel, have\nbeen assigned across the country, Livestock and Animal Health Director\nGeneral Agung Suganda said in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Suganda said monitoring covers animal health, veterinary public\nhealth, animal welfare and halal compliance, including slaughtering\nactivities conducted outside licensed slaughterhouses.<\/p>\n
The central government and regional administrations have also issued\ncirculars and intensified public outreach for qurban committees ahead of\nthe Islamic holiday.<\/p>\n
Regional governments have deployed additional monitoring teams\ninvolving veterinary associations, livestock breeder groups and\ncertified halal slaughterers.<\/p>\n
Students from 14 veterinary schools are also participating in\ninspections and educating the public on hygienic slaughtering practices\naligned with veterinary standards.<\/p>\n
\u201cGod willing, the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri slaughtering process will\nproceed smoothly,\u201d Suganda said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono said Indonesia is\nfacing a livestock surplus ahead of this year\u2019s Eid al-Adha\ncelebrations.<\/p>\n
Available sacrificial livestock has reached about 3.2 million head,\nwhile national demand is estimated at 2.4 million head, leaving a\nsurplus of roughly 800,000 animals.<\/p>\n
The surplus reflects stable domestic supply conditions despite\nbroader global uncertainty, Sudaryono said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a surplus of around 800,000 head, which shows the country\nremains in good condition,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
