Indonesia seeks Hungarian vaccine<\/p>\n
Indonesia is interested in producing a Hungarian prototype human
\nbird flu vaccine amid fears of outbreaks of the deadly virus in
\ndozens of countries.<\/p>\n
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said here on
\nThursday that Indonesia was exploring the possibility of getting
\na license to locally produce the Hungarian prototype human bird
\nflu vaccine.<\/p>\n
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked him to look into the
\npossibility of obtaining a license for the local production of
\nsuch a vaccine, he added.<\/p>\n
Hungary's Minister of Health Jeno Racz said last week
\ncountries, including the United States, Britain and Indonesia,
\nhad expressed an interest in the prototype, set to be approved by
\nthe European Medicines Agency.<\/p>\n
He was quoted by AFP as saying Hungary's prototype human
\nvaccine is effective against the deadly H5N1 strain.<\/p>\n
Racz said tests on some 150 volunteers had shown the vaccine
\nto be effective \"beyond doubt\", with all volunteers developing
\nantibodies to the disease.<\/p>\n
Hassan also said Indonesia would ask that Avian Flu issues be
\ndiscussed at an APEC Summit next month in South Korea.<\/p>\n
Separately, Hassan stated that the supply of Tamiflu, an
\nantiviral drug produced by Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche and
\nused to treat those with bird flu, was limited due to high demand
\nfollowing outbreaks of bird flu in Europe.<\/p>\n
\"It's not easy to get Tamiflu now. It's fully booked until
