        "content": "<p>Following a meeting with upstream and downstream producers in Jakarta\non Thursday, Kartasasmita expressed optimism regarding domestic supply\nwhile noting that the government continues to monitor global\ndevelopments impacting production and inventory levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have received assurances from the industry that plastic stocks\nshould face no issues,\u201d he said in a statement, emphasizing that\nofficials remain vigilant regarding the impact of international\ninstability.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Industry is closely tracking geopolitical dynamics,\nparticularly in the Strait of Hormuz. Disruptions there risk affecting\nthe supply of petrochemical feedstocks essential for the national\nplastic subsector.<\/p>\n<p>Industry representatives committed to maintaining supply continuity,\nspecifically for small-scale enterprises, to ensure their products\nremain competitive. However, the ministry acknowledged that regional\nconflicts have already distorted domestic price structures.<\/p>\n<p>Price adjustments may occur due to rising logistics and freight\ncosts, premium surcharges, and shipping delays. According to the\nminister, average delivery times have surged from 15 days to as many as\n50 days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis condition certainly impacts production costs,\u201d Kartasasmita\nstated, adding that the situation serves as a lesson for Indonesia to\nstrengthen its national petrochemical independence and reduce reliance\non imported raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>Investors at the meeting urged for stronger domestic market\nprotections against imports to make the sector more attractive. The\ngovernment aims to balance energy needs with the raw material\nrequirements of the petrochemical industry.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also explored substituting naphtha with domestic\nalternatives such as crude palm oil (CPO).
