The Indonesian government has conveyed its condolences on the passing\nof Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar who served from\n1995 to 2013. The statement was delivered by Foreign Minister Sugiono\nduring a visit to the Embassy of Qatar in Jakarta on Wednesday\n(15\/7).<\/p>\n
\u201cInnalillahi wa innailaihi rojiun. We all express our deepest sorrow\nover the passing of Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani,\u201d said\nSugiono.<\/p>\n
According to him, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was a figure who\nmade a significant contribution in transforming Qatar into an\ninfluential nation on the global stage. He also assessed that Sheikh\nHamad\u2019s leadership played a vital role in strengthening bilateral\nrelations between Indonesia and Qatar.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was also a leader who was able to make Qatar a very influential\ncountry. And of course, in relation to ties with Indonesia, he also\nplayed a major and active role in creating close relations between the\ntwo countries, which are currently being continued by the Emir and\nPresident Prabowo Subianto,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
On the occasion, Sugiono also offered prayers for the late Sheikh\nHamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and all the people of Qatar. He hoped the\ndeceased would be granted the best place in the sight of Allah SWT and\nthat the people of Qatar would be given fortitude in facing this\ngrief.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe pray that he is granted the best place in the sight of Allah SWT\nand pray that all the people of Qatar are given strength and continue to\nbe inspired by his leadership and struggle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Sugiono is optimistic that relations between Indonesia\nand Qatar will continue to develop in the future. He affirmed that Qatar\nis one of Indonesia\u2019s strategic partners in supporting various shared\nagendas and interests.<\/p>\n
