        "content": "<p>Bahlil said CNG is already being used in several hotels, restaurants,\nand kitchens supporting the government\u2019s free meals program, with raw\nmaterials sourced domestically. The government is now preparing to\nexpand its use to households.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have just started producing the 3\u2011kilogram [cylinders], which\ncost 30\u201340 percent less,\u201d the minister said at an event organized by the\nIPB Alumni Association in Jakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Despite challenges, he affirmed the government\u2019s commitment to\ncontinue developing CNG to support energy efficiency and strengthen\nnational supply.<\/p>\n<p>CNG is derived from natural gas\u2014primarily methane (C1) and ethane\n(C2)\u2014which are abundant domestically.<\/p>\n<p>The gas is compressed to pressures of 250\u2013400 bar for use as fuel,\nwith cylinders designed to withstand high pressure and ensure safe\nstorage and distribution.<\/p>\n<p>Bahlil noted that CNG has strong potential because Indonesia\u2019s\nnatural gas resources are more plentiful than LPG feedstock, which\ndepends on propane and butane (C3\u2013C4) and is limited in domestic\nproduction.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Indonesia\nconsumes 8.6 million tons of LPG annually, but only 1.6\u20131.7 million tons\nare produced domestically.
