According to a statement issued on Wednesday, Antoni used the\ninternational forum to present Indonesia\u2019s three key strategies for\ncontributing to global forest conservation and management efforts.<\/p>\n
First, he highlighted Indonesia\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop a\nhigh-integrity carbon market to expand access to financing for\nconservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable forest management, and\ncommunity empowerment in protecting forest resources.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndonesia is convinced that a high-integrity carbon market could\nserve as a crucial instrument to bridge global funding needs for\nsustainable forest protection and management,\u201d Antoni said.<\/p>\n
To support this objective, he noted that the government is working to\nestablish regulations that will create a more conducive environment for\ncarbon trading in the forestry sector.<\/p>\n
Regarding the second strategy, Antoni emphasized Indonesia\u2019s\ncommitment to strengthening the International Tropical Peatland Center\n(ITPC) as a platform for global cooperation, scientific advancement,\nknowledge exchange, capacity building, and innovation in tropical\npeatland management.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that Indonesia possesses extensive experience and\ncapacity in managing one of the world\u2019s largest carbon sinks, with\napproximately 13 million hectares of tropical peatlands across the\ncountry.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndonesia would like to invite FCLP member states to expand\ncollaboration through ITPC to intensify efforts to identify science- and\nbest practice-based solutions for tropical peatland stewardship in\nregions around the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Turning to the third strategy, the minister underscored the\nimportance of utilizing the World Mangrove Center as a hub for\ninternational collaboration, facilitating knowledge exchange,\npolicymaking, research, innovation, and capacity building.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis way, we can step up joint efforts to position mangroves as one\nof the most effective nature-based solutions for mitigating climate\nchange, conserving biodiversity, strengthening coastal resilience, and\nimproving community welfare,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Antoni also stressed Indonesia\u2019s readiness to play a more active role\nwithin the FCLP and deepen cooperation with like-minded partners to\ndevelop ambitious, inclusive, and practical solutions for forest\nconservation and management.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndonesia\u2019s presence here reflects its growing position as the\ncountry with the world\u2019s third-largest tropical forest area, committed\nnot only to safeguarding its forest resources but also to actively\ncontributing to global solutions for climate targets, biodiversity\nconservation, and sustainable development,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
