Indonesia placed in the limelight<\/p>\n

Our country has been independent for 50 years. We have
\ncomplete liberty to determine our domestic, as well as foreign
\npolicies. We have the freedom to establish diplomatic relations
\nwith certain countries. Likewise we are free to sever diplomatic
\nrelations. We are even free to quit world organizations. But the
\nfacts show that a country cannot progress and achieve prosperity
\nif it will not cooperate with other countries, and stand entirely
\non its own feet. Indeed, none of us wants that sort of state.<\/p>\n
Lack of cooperation and lack of aid are a disadvantage to the
\ncountry concerned. As a result the majority of the people will
\nsuffer. As we know, several international organizations have been
\nestablished, such as Association of International Parliaments,
\nInternational Court, etc. Each organization will watch its
\nmembers in carrying out their respective policies.<\/p>\n
These days, the issues of human rights, democracy and the
\nenvironment, particularly, are placed in the limelight. These
\nthree issues have universal value. So they are viewed in the same
\nmanner all over the world. Therefore, the Indonesian leaders
\nshould deal with these matters carefully. Because the
\ninternational community tends to criticize all out of proportion
\nwhatever Indonesia has done wrong.<\/p>\n
