Indonesia will encourage the export of its leading agricultural\ncommodities to Belarus, particularly crude palm oil (CPO), cocoa,\ncoconut, and tea. This emerged following a meeting between Indonesian\nAgriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and Belarusian Minister of\nAgriculture and Food Yuri Gorglov at the Ministry of Agriculture\u2019s\nheadquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday (30\/6).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to expand the export market for Indonesian agricultural\ncommodities to Belarus. The increasingly close relationship between the\ntwo countries must provide tangible benefits through mutually beneficial\ntrade increases,\u201d Amran said in a statement quoted on Wednesday\n(1\/7).<\/p>\n
One opportunity of note is the export of Indonesian cocoa. The\nBelarusian government conveyed that its country has a chocolate\nprocessing industry that supplies the domestic market, Eastern Europe,\nand Russia. To support this industry, Belarus requires approximately\n120,000 tonnes of cocoa per year. This opens a significant opportunity\nfor Indonesia to increase exports while expanding market access for its\nnational cocoa commodities.<\/p>\n
In addition to cocoa, Amran also pushed for increased exports of\nIndonesian CPO to Belarus. He noted that Belarus has the potential to\nbecome a strategic gateway for Indonesian agricultural products into the\nEastern European region. During the meeting, the Belarusian government\nalso conveyed its need for palm oil, which can be met by Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also encouraging CPO exports to Belarus. So far, this product\nhas not entered the Belarusian market, even though they have expressed a\nneed for around 14,000 tonnes. This is an opportunity we must\nimmediately follow up on to increase trade between the two countries,\u201d\nthe Agriculture Minister said.<\/p>\n
Beyond opening trade opportunities, Indonesia and Belarus also agreed\nto strengthen cooperation in agricultural technology. The collaboration\nwill focus on developing agricultural mechanisation, modernising\nirrigation systems, managing water resources, and utilising agricultural\ntools and machinery to boost productivity and efficiency in the\nsector.<\/p>\n
\u201cBelarus has experience and technology that can be a strategic\npartner for Indonesia. Meanwhile, Indonesia has enormous potential in\nthe agricultural sector. This collaboration must accelerate agricultural\nmodernisation and strengthen food security for both countries,\u201d Amran\nstated.<\/p>\n
In the livestock sector, the two countries also discussed\nopportunities to enhance trade cooperation in dairy products. Minister\nAmran assessed that such cooperation is expected to deliver quality\nproducts at increasingly competitive prices for the Indonesian people.\n\u201cWe want every cooperation built to provide tangible benefits to the\ncommunity, whether through improved product quality, more competitive\nprices, or the opening of new economic opportunities for both\ncountries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
