INDONESIA has cemented its position as a leader in generative
artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in Asia. Since the launch of
ChatGPT Images 2.0 on 22 April, Indonesia has recorded significant
growth in usage, placing it alongside developed nations such as
Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Internal data indicates that this momentum is not merely a fleeting
trend. The number of daily image-generation turns in Indonesia surged by
70% compared to the average in the first week of the launch. The figure
reflects sustained user engagement in exploring the AI-based visual
feature.

Gabriel Goh, Lead Researcher for ChatGPT Images 2.0 at OpenAI,
expressed his admiration for the creativity of users in the country.
According to him, Indonesia has become one of the fastest-growing
markets because its people have found practical ways to integrate AI
into their work and daily lives.

‘We are very enthusiastic to see how quickly people in Indonesia have
started adopting ChatGPT Images 2.0. Some of the most interesting ideas
actually come from users creating their own concepts. The most
meaningful changes really start from there,’ said Gabriel.

Over the past month, usage patterns for ChatGPT Images 2.0 in
Indonesia have fallen into two main categories: expressive creation and
practical needs. Users are not only using AI to create avatars or
stickers, but also for professional solutions such as making headshots
and business promotional materials.

One of the main advantages of this version 2.0 is its significantly
improved text rendering capability. Users can now create infographics
with accurate text in various languages, including Indonesian terms,
which was previously a challenge for generative AI models.

Towards the middle of 2026, OpenAI is also encouraging users to
conduct a ‘Personal Check-in’. Using a simple prompt, users can
visualise this year’s milestones and resolution targets in the form of
engaging infographics ready to be shared on social media.

The ChatGPT Images 2.0 feature is now widely accessible via the
mobile app and the web version in the ‘Images’ menu. With continued
upward growth, Indonesia is predicted to remain a centre of creative
innovation in the global AI ecosystem.
",
