        "content": "<p>The Indonesian and Kazakhstani governments are opening opportunities\nto strengthen cooperation in several strategic sectors, ranging from\nenergy, industry, agriculture, food processing, textiles, Islamic\nbanking, digital economy, education, to tourism. The strengthening of\ncooperation was discussed in a bilateral meeting between Coordinating\nMinister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto and Prime Minister of\nKazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov at the Government House in Astana on Monday.\nThe meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2nd Indonesia-Kazakhstan\nJoint Commission Session and serves as a momentum to strengthen the\nstrategic economic relations between the two countries. \u201cIndonesia views\nKazakhstan as a strategic partner in Central Asia and Eurasia. With\nKazakhstan\u2019s geographical position and regional connectivity, there are\nsignificant opportunities to strengthen trade, investment, and\nindustrial partnerships between the two countries,\u201d Airlangga said in\nhis statement in Jakarta on Monday. In the energy sector, both countries\nemphasised the importance of cooperation in energy transitions and the\ndevelopment of renewable energy. Indonesia also reaffirmed its\ncommitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2060. In addition, both\nparties discussed opportunities for cooperation in geothermal\ndevelopment, industrial downstreaming, and the development of electric\nvehicle and battery ecosystems. The exploration of cooperation in the\noil and gas sector was also part of the discussions. In the digital\neconomy field, Indonesia conveyed its target to increase the national\ndigital economy value from around 130 billion US dollars to 200 billion\nUS dollars by 2030. Both countries view digital transformation as one of\nthe new strategic areas to strengthen bilateral economic relations in\nthe future. Meanwhile, in the investment sector, Indonesia and\nKazakhstan emphasised the importance of strengthening investment\nmechanisms and business facilitation. The Astana International Financial\nCentre is seen as an important platform to support the strengthening of\ninvestment and regional economic connectivity. Both countries also paid\nspecial attention to strengthening logistics and transportation\nconnectivity. In the meeting, opportunities were discussed to utilise\nKazakhstan\u2019s strategic position as a transit route, the development of\ninternational transportation corridors, and the strengthening of\nlogistics routes and trade terminals towards the Central Asian and\nEurasian regional markets. In addition, both parties discussed the\nimportance of strengthening border economic cooperation to support the\nsmooth flow of trade and market access expansion. Airlangga said\nIndonesia continues to actively promote increased trade with countries\nin the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) region following the agreement on\nthe Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement\n(Indonesia\u2013EAEU FTA) on 21 December 2025. According to him, Kazakhstan,\nas one of the largest economies in Central Asia, is Indonesia\u2019s main\npartner for expanding trade in the Eurasian region. As a country with a\ngross domestic product (GDP) of around 333.7 billion US dollars and\neconomic growth of 6.5 percent in 2025, Kazakhstan is seen as\nIndonesia\u2019s strategic partner in strengthening trade, investment,\nlogistics connectivity, energy, strategic minerals, and digital\ntransformation. Airlangga also conveyed that Indonesia views Kazakhstan\nas a strategic gateway to the Eurasian region and an important partner\nin supporting trade diversification and strengthening regional supply\nchains. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Bektenov reaffirmed the Kazakhstani\ngovernment\u2019s commitment to continue expanding trade and investment\nrelations with Indonesia. \u201cKazakhstan places great emphasis on expanding\ntrade and economic relations with Indonesia.
