        "content": "<p>Acting Director General of Disease Control Andi Saguni stated that\nsacrificial meat that has been cooked and served at room temperature\nshould be consumed within four hours to prevent contamination and\nbacterial growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe meat must be stored at room temperature because it is usually\nserved at room temperature, therefore it should be consumed within four\nhours,\u201d he said during a press conference with the Government\nCommunication Office here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that fresh sacrificial meat received by the public\nshould ideally be cooked immediately. However, if it has not yet been\nprocessed, the meat should be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature\nbelow 5 degrees Celsius, where it can last for up to four days.<\/p>\n<p>For long-term storage, he recommended keeping the meat in a freezer\nat temperatures between minus 18 and minus 20 degrees Celsius for no\nlonger than three months.<\/p>\n<p>According to Andi, many people forget about meat stored in freezers\nfor too long \u2014 sometimes for more than six months or even a year \u2014 and\nsuch meat should no longer be consumed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Health Ministry also urges the public to cook meat thoroughly to\nkill bacteria, including anthrax,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Andi advised that large portions of cooked meat should\nbe divided into smaller portions before being refrigerated again to\nensure safer storage and later consumption.
