        "content": "<p>Indonesia Invites China to Invest in 100 GW Solar Power Program<\/p>\n<p>Reporter<\/p>\n<p>July 19, 2026 | 12:32 pm<\/p>\n<p>TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic\nAffairs Airlangga Hartarto invited Chinese companies to invest in the\ndevelopment of solar power plants with a total capacity of 100 gigawatts\nin Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Hartarto extended the invitation during a bilateral meeting with\nChinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao in Shanghai on Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The massive 100 GW solar target was initiated by President Prabowo\nSubianto to support Indonesia\u2019s energy transition and industrial\ndownstreaming push, with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources\naiming for full completion by 2029.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndonesia appreciates China\u2019s investment in the development of the\nCirata Floating Solar Power Plant. The project demonstrates the massive\npotential for Indonesia-China cooperation in supporting the energy\ntransition, developing clean energy, and achieving emission reduction\ntargets,\u201d Hartarto said in a statement on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the solar panel industry currently operating in\nIndonesia can still be further strengthened and expanded with the aim of\nbuilding a more comprehensive and integrated domestic supply chain for\nthe solar power industry.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the energy sector, Hartarto highlighted that China remains\nIndonesia\u2019s largest trading partner. In 2025, bilateral trade between\nthe two countries reached US$154.6 billion, maintaining an average\nannual growth rate of 7.24 percent over the 2021 to 2025 period.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of investment, China also ranks among Indonesia\u2019s top three\nsources of foreign direct investment (FDI). In 2025, Chinese investment\nreached nearly US$8.1 billion, accounting for roughly 13 percent of\ntotal FDI, primarily channeled into manufacturing, trade, energy,\nproperty, and transportation and warehousing sectors.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, both parties also discussed strengthening\ncooperation through the Two Countries Twin Parks (TCTP) framework,\nexpanding market access to balance bilateral trade, and securing support\nfor hosting the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)\nSecretariat in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the APEC 2026 summit in China, Hartarto conveyed Indonesia\u2019s\nsupport for China\u2019s chairmanship.
