In the past, <br>\nIPTN made CN-235, evidence of the country's mastery of high-<br>\ntechnology in aircraft making. PT DI has also received orders for <br>\ncomponents of jumbo Airbus A-380 aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>In 1996 was the test flight of N-250, the most technologically <br>\nsophisticated airplane of its class originally designed by <br>\nIndonesia. Unfortunately, this aircraft could not be widely <br>\nmarketed because of certification problems.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of CN-235, Spain also produced the same aircraft <br>\nbut could market it to Europe, the United States and some other <br>\ncountries, because it possessed the Joint Aviation Authorities <br>\n(JAA) certificate for Europe and the Federal Aviation <br>\nAdministration (FAA) certificate for the United States and some <br>\nother countries. Indonesia's CN-235, however, possessed only the <br>\nJAA certificate so its market was limited.<\/p>\n<p>A study has shown that Indonesia does not possess the FAA <br>\ncertificate because it has yet to sign a bilateral treaty with <br>\nthe FAA for aircraft certification. In future, the new government <br>\nmust lend full support to the country's aerospace industry so <br>\nthat PT DI can sign agreements with relevant international <br>\naircraft certification agencies and widely market its products.<\/p>\n<p>Sukarno<br>\nBandung<\/p>",
