        "content": "<p>Indonesia gets world support in blast aftermath<\/p>\n<p>Agencies, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>The government received on Wednesday sympathy and support from<br>\nworld leaders, who expressed confidence that Indonesia would be<br>\nable to find the perpetrators of the JW Marriott Hotel bombing as<br>\nsoon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said that world<br>\nleaders had sent special messages to President Megawati<br>\nSoekarnoputri regarding Tuesday&apos;s devastating bombing.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;They expressed confidence and promised to support us in<br>\nresolving the case and continuing with the fight against<br>\nterrorism,&quot; Hassan said at the Presidential Palace.<\/p>\n<p>He said Australia and France had officially offered their<br>\nassistance in investigating the carnage that killed at least 10<br>\npeople, according to a police report, and injured at least 149<br>\nothers.<\/p>\n<p>Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)<br>\nwere the first to send messages to the President, Hassan said.<\/p>\n<p>A source at the President&apos;s office told The Jakarta Post that<br>\nAustralian Prime Minister John Howard had talked with Megawati<br>\nover the phone on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&apos;s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi called the bombing a<br>\n&quot;brutal attack&quot; which must be answered with a united front.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Faced with the continuing threat of terrorism, we must<br>\nstrengthen our common commitment to combat and conquer all forms<br>\nof violence around the world,&quot; Berlusconi said, in a message of<br>\ncondolence to Indonesian authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese President Hu Jintao also sent a message condemning the<br>\nblast and pledging Chinese cooperation in fighting terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The Chinese government strongly condemns this terrorist act,&quot;<br>\nHu said in his message, according to China&apos;s state-run Xinhua<br>\nnews agency.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;China is ready to engage in common efforts with all countries<br>\nin the region, including Indonesia, to crack down on terrorist<br>\nforces and maintain peace and stability,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Canberra warned further terrorist attacks could be imminent in<br>\nJakarta, saying that extremist group Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) was so<br>\nentrenched in Indonesia that wiping it out would likely take<br>\nyears.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign minister Alexander Downer said alleged Bali bomber<br>\nAmrozi&apos;s trial verdict on Thursday and Indonesia&apos;s national day<br>\non Aug. 17 were both possible triggers for attacks.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We think there is a real risk that there could be further<br>\nattacks, including in Central Jakarta,&quot; Downer told reporters,<br>\nadding that Australians in Indonesia should take the travel<br>\nadvisory seriously.<\/p>\n<p>In Manila, Philippines President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo urged<br>\nASEAN to increase vigilance against terror attacks.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;This (Jakarta bombing) is a clear message that the war<br>\nagainst terrorism in the region must be pursued with more<br>\nintensive multilateral cooperation,&quot; Arroyo said at the opening<br>\nof the ASEAN Finance Ministers meeting in Manila.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The region must now learn to live with these threats from day<br>\nto day.
