        "content": "<p>Indonesia gets assistance offers to combat terrorism<\/p>\n<p>Annastashya Emmanuelle<br>\nThe Jakarta Post<br>\nJakarta<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia had received several offers of assistance from                   <br>\nthe United States to help it crack down on the international <br>\nterrorist movement, Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirayuda said <br>\non Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He said that Indonesia was in the process of assessing the <br>\nproposals on intelligence information exchange, police training <br>\ncourses and training in the banking sector to help track down <br>\nterrorism funding.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has allocated US$10 million for the assistance.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We are still assessing our limitations, what we need in <br>\ncombating terrorism together with the international community,&quot; <br>\nHassan told reporters after meeting with the Chief Minister of <br>\nAustralia&apos;s Northern Territory, Clare Martin.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. offered to provide specialized training for both the <br>\npolice and immigration officials to investigate and curb <br>\nterrorist acts, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs <br>\nSusilo Bambang Yudhoyono said earlier that Indonesia was not <br>\nunder any pressure to step up efforts in investigating terrorist <br>\nacts, saying that any such efforts would be aimed mainly at <br>\naddressing national security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The National Police have yet to identify any terrorist groups <br>\noperating in the country, with both their chief and the Minister <br>\nof Defense saying that investigations were still underway.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia came under the international spotlight recently when <br>\na man claiming to be an Indonesian citizen was arrested in the <br>\nPhilippines two weeks ago for his alleged links with the al-Qaeda <br>\nmovement.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Susilo told reporters that the results of <br>\ninvestigations into terrorist links in the country, if any, would <br>\nbe announced soon.<\/p>",
