        "content": "<p>The Chairman of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives, Bambang Patijaya, is optimistic that Indonesia can\nbecome one of the major players in the global Rare Earth Elements (REE)\nmarket in the near future. This optimism is supported by the significant\npotential of raw materials possessed by Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bambang, Indonesia has long possessed substantial rare\nearth metal resources. However, this potential has not yet been\noptimally managed, resulting in limited added value.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the raw material, and so far, this material has remained\nuntouched. It has not been processed well. In fact, the contents of\nthese rare earth metals might even be mixed with other minerals when\nexported,\u201d Bambang told CNBC Indonesia during an Economic Update, as\nreported on Wednesday (24\/06\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the government is currently preparing strategic steps\nto accelerate the development of the national rare earth industry,\nranging from institutional formation to the drafting of supporting\nregulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe we must move quickly because, in my view, the government\nhas already implemented a good action plan. The institutions have been\nprepared. We just need to finalise the regulations and address whatever\nremains unfinished,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the near future, Commission XII of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives also plans to summon the Mineral Industry Agency (BIM)\nand PT Perminas in early July 2026 to discuss work programmes and the\nimplementation of government mandates regarding the development of rare\nearth metals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will detail this. We will assist through our oversight and\nregulatory functions. By doing so, we can push this forward together. We\nhope that in the near future, Indonesia will become one of the major\nplayers in the global rare earth elements market,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
