        "content": "<p>Ishartini, Head of the KKP Quality Control and Monitoring Agency,\nexplained that the ministry has been included in an integrated team\nestablished by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan to\nadvance the initiative, with a special focus on the needs of Indonesian\nHajj and Umrah pilgrims.<\/p>\n<p>She said at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday that the\ngovernment has begun talks with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority\n(SFDA), seeking a permit for Indonesian farmed fish shipments to the\nGulf state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is true that we have yet to secure the permit, but the process is\nalready underway. In fact, we have met all the requirements put forward\nby the SFDA,\u201d Ishartini remarked.<\/p>\n<p>The official expressed optimism that the cross-institution team would\nsucceed in paving the way for Indonesia to supply its pilgrims with\ndomestic fish products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s just wait for the outcome. We can expect the integrated team\nfor the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem to help allow the entry of national\naquaculture products into the Saudi Arabian market,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n<p>According to KKP data, Indonesia\u2019s aquaculture produced 15.75 million\ntonnes in 2024, with major commodities including 9.85 million tonnes of\nseaweed, 1.56 million tonnes of tilapia, 1.15 million tonnes of catfish,\n798,864 tonnes of milkfish, 523,796 tonnes of goldfish, and 381,969\ntonnes of pangasius.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s plan to export aquaculture commodities for pilgrimage\npurposes was first highlighted by Hajj and Umrah Minister Mochamad Irfan\nYusuf during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) in\nJakarta on 10 February.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative followed Indonesia\u2019s success in securing a permit to\nexport domestic rice to Saudi Arabia for this year\u2019s Hajj season.<\/p>",
