Beijing — Indonesia is exploring artificial intelligence cooperation
in agriculture with Guangxi, China, according to Indonesian Ambassador
to China Djauhari Oratmangun during a visit from Chen Gang, Secretary of
the Communist Party Committee for the Guangxi region, at the Indonesian
Embassy in Beijing on 13 March.

“Guangxi possesses significant potential in the AI field, which is
not only beneficial for developing smart agriculture, but also in
healthcare, culture, and tourism. Therefore, going forward, I wish to
continue promoting the strengthening of partnership in these fields with
Guangxi,” Djauhari stated.

Indonesia and Guangxi previously explored cooperation opportunities
in AI application for the broadcasting sector, particularly through
cooperation discussions between the Indonesian Public Broadcasting
Institution Television of the Republic of Indonesia (LPP TVRI) and the
Information Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government in
early March. The AI Application Centre, a result of cooperation between
Guangxi Province and ASEAN, has already been established in Nanning
City.

These cooperation explorations are taking place as relations between
both parties continue to strengthen. Bilateral trade value increased by
40 per cent last year, reaching USD 4.73 billion (1 USD = Rp16,990).
Additionally, an increasing number of companies from Guangxi have
invested in Indonesia, including in green transportation and
construction machinery and heavy equipment production.

The partnership strengthening is also supported by increasingly
intensive people-to-people connections, including through educational
cooperation. In 2024, Indonesia and Guangxi signed a cooperation
agreement in the field of vocational education. Through this
cooperation, various universities and polytechnics in Indonesia have
established partnerships with companies from Guangxi that have invested
in Indonesia to strengthen vocational technical capacity, particularly
supporting Indonesian industries.
