President Prabowo Subianto has clarified that Indonesia never committed to paying US$1 billion in dues to the Board of Peace, an initiative by US President Donald Trump, and did not attend the founding donors' meeting in Washington. Instead, Indonesia is prepared to contribute peacekeeping troops as needed and will consider further involvement in Gaza's reconstruction once a ceasefire is achieved, building on prior efforts like constructing a hospital there. This stance underscores Indonesia's focus on non-financial support for global peace efforts amid international diplomacy.

Indonesia is confirmed never to have promised or committed to paying
dues of US$1 billion to the Board of Peace or World Peace Council,
initiated by US President Donald Trump. This was affirmed by President
Prabowo Subianto. “So we never said that we want to join the US$1
billion dues. No, never,” Prabowo stated in an interview quoted on
Sunday (22/3/2026). Prabowo also revealed that Indonesia did not attend
the meeting of ‘founding donors’ countries for the BoP in Washington DC,
USA. “And this, this was the meeting in Washington on 19 February last,
well, this is the founding donors. So, they each contributed, some
possibly more. But Indonesia wasn’t there. Because I also committed,
when asked, I did not commit any money at all,” Prabowo said. On the
other hand, Prabowo stated that Indonesia is ready to be part of that
peace council by contributing through the deployment of peacekeeping
troops. According to him, Indonesia is willing to send a number of
troops according to requirements. “We said, we are ready for
peacekeeping troops, whatever is requested,” he said. Prabowo continued
that the government will continue to follow future developments; when
Gaza’s reconstruction can begin, Indonesia’s contribution will be
considered. He mentioned that Indonesia has also taken several steps to
support Palestine, such as building a hospital in Gaza. “If a real
ceasefire succeeds and reconstruction starts, Indonesia could join,
right. We have Baznas, we have, and before this, we have already built a
hospital, we have done various things there. There is no commitment (for
dues) at all,” he said.
",
