Indonesia\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned a statement by\nthe United States Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, claiming that\nIsrael has a right to most of the Middle East. Indonesia considers the\nremarks a threat to security stability in the Middle East and the Gaza\nStrip.<\/p>\n
The condemnation was delivered through a joint statement issued by\nIndonesia\u2019s Foreign Ministry alongside several Middle Eastern nations.\nThey affirmed that the US Ambassador\u2019s statement is unacceptable.<\/p>\n
\u201cConveying strong condemnation and deep concern regarding the\nstatement made by the United States Ambassador to Israel, which\nindicated that it is acceptable for Israel to control territories\nbelonging to Arab nations, including the occupied West Bank,\u201d the\nIndonesian Foreign Ministry\u2019s X account posted on Sunday\n(22\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
Indonesia firmly rejected the US Ambassador\u2019s claim that Israel has a\nright to control most of the Middle East, stating that such remarks\ncontradict international law and the United Nations Charter.<\/p>\n
In the joint statement, Indonesia and the Middle Eastern nations also\nnoted that Ambassador Huckabee\u2019s remarks are inconsistent with US\nPresident Donald Trump\u2019s vision for peace in Palestine. They stated that\nefforts to resolve the conflict in Gaza must be grounded in ensuring\nPalestine has an independent state and fostering tolerance for\ncoexistence in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey underscored that the plan is founded on promoting tolerance and\npeaceful coexistence, and that statements seeking to legitimise control\nover others\u2019 land undermine these objectives, fuel tensions, and\nconstitute incitement rather than advancing peace,\u201d the Foreign Ministry\nwrote.<\/p>\n
Indonesia, together with Arab nations, also reaffirmed that Israel\nholds no sovereignty over Palestinian territory or any other territory\nin the Middle East.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ministries reaffirmed that Israel has absolutely no sovereignty\nover the occupied Palestinian territories or other occupied Arab\nterritories. They reiterated their firm rejection of any attempt to\nannex the West Bank or separate it from the Gaza Strip, their strong\nopposition to the expansion of settlement activities in the occupied\nPalestinian territories, and their categorical rejection of any threat\nto the sovereignty of Arab nations,\u201d the Foreign Ministry stated.<\/p>\n
Huckabee made the remarks during an interview with conservative\ncommentator Tucker Carlson, broadcast on Friday. Carlson stated that\naccording to the Bible, the descendants of Abraham would receive land\nthat currently essentially encompasses the entire Middle East. He then\nasked Huckabee whether Israel has a right to that land.<\/p>\n
