The Indonesian government has strongly condemned Israel\u2019s plan to\nexpand its occupation to encompass 70 per cent of the Gaza Strip\nterritory. Indonesia considers this move an illegal act that contravenes\ninternational law and threatens the peace efforts long championed by the\ninternational community.<\/p>\n
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono asserted that Indonesia rejects\nall forms of Palestinian territorial annexation by Israel. He stated\nthat the plan presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is\nunjustifiable and must be prevented before it is realised.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe continue to reject and strongly condemn the plan,\u201d said Sugiono\nfollowing a bilateral meeting with Madagascar\u2019s Foreign Minister, Alice\nN\u2019Diaye, in Jakarta on Wednesday (2\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
Sugiono emphasised that Indonesia is urging all international parties\nto take concrete steps to halt the expansion of the Israeli occupation\nin Gaza. He noted that such actions not only violate international law\nbut also have the potential to further exacerbate the humanitarian\nsituation in the region.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian government also reaffirmed the importance of resolving\nthe Palestinian conflict through a two-state solution. According to\nSugiono, Palestinian independence remains a core principle that\nIndonesia continues to advocate for in various international forums.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor Indonesia, the bottom line is that Palestine must be independent\nwithin the framework of a two-state solution,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
The Palestinian issue was also among the topics discussed by\nPresident Prabowo Subianto when receiving Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan\nFidan in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
According to Sugiono, Indonesia and T\u00fcrkiye share the same view on\nthe importance of refocusing global attention on the struggle of the\nPalestinian people. He noted that international focus on the conflict\nhad shifted following increased regional tensions following attacks by\nthe United States and Israel against Iran.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must return to that, and to do so, we must find ways to resolve\nthis conflict,\u201d said Sugindo.<\/p>\n
Indonesia\u2019s statement follows Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s announcement of\nIsrael\u2019s plan to expand military control in Gaza to reach 70 per cent of\nthe Palestinian enclave. Previously, Netanyahu claimed that Israeli\nforces had controlled approximately 60 per cent of the Gaza\nterritory.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasised that the plan\nto control 70 per cent of Gaza is not included in the peace schemes\npreviously proposed by President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
