Indonesia, China Sign $2 Billion Investment Deals at Jakarta\nPartnership Forum<\/p>\n
Jakarta. Indonesia and China signed three memorandums of\nunderstanding (MoUs) worth about $2 billion (Rp36 trillion) on Thursday,\nunderscoring deepening economic ties between the two countries in\nrenewable energy, manufacturing and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The agreements were signed during the Indonesia-China Partnership\nForum in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Indonesia\u2019s Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, said the\nlargest agreement involves the development of a 300-megawatt agrivoltaic\nsolar power plant in North Sumatra, with an investment value of around\n$1.35 billion.<\/p>\n
The project, which combines solar power generation with agricultural\nactivities on the same land, is expected to become one of the largest\ngreen energy projects in North Sumatra.<\/p>\n
The two countries also signed an agreement between Indonesian food\nand beverage producer Jobubu Jarum Minahasa and China\u2019s Guangxi G. Taste\nFood Co., Ltd., as well as a cooperation agreement between Telkom\nProperti Indonesia and CNEC Engineering Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Combined, the three agreements carry an estimated economic value of\nabout $2 billion, Djauhari said.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the forum, Djauhari said Indonesia continues to improve\nits investment climate by simplifying licensing procedures,\nstrengthening the business environment and providing greater legal\ncertainty for investors.<\/p>\n
The government is seeking high-quality investment that transfers\ntechnology, creates jobs, develops local talent, strengthens domestic\nindustries and generates greater value-added within Indonesia, he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Djauhari identified renewable energy and advanced technology as key\nsectors for expanding Indonesia-China cooperation. Indonesia is\naccelerating the development of renewable energy, electric vehicle and\nbattery industries, and green industrial estates as part of its broader\nindustrial transformation agenda.<\/p>\n
In technology, Indonesia hopes to deepen collaboration with China in\nareas including artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, digital\nindustries, green technology and industrial automation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndonesia is not merely a technology market, but a productive\npartner, an innovation partner and a growth partner,\u201d Djauhari said.<\/p>\n
He said the two countries possess complementary strengths, with China\nbringing expertise in technology, manufacturing, capital and supply\nchains, while Indonesia offers a large domestic market, abundant\nstrategic natural resources, a young workforce and a commitment to\nindustrial upgrading.<\/p>\n
China remains one of Indonesia\u2019s largest trading partners and foreign\ninvestors. According to data from Indonesia\u2019s Ministry of Investment and\nDownstream Industries, Chinese investment in Indonesia reached $38.34\nbillion between 2021 and the first half of 2026, creating more than\n500,000 jobs.<\/p>\n
