Despite\ndifferences in their economic structures and resource potential, both\ncountries have developing manufacturing sectors spanning a range of\nstrategic industries, including food and beverages, automotive,\nmachinery and equipment, metals, and chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>These industries not only serve domestic market needs but also offer\nopportunities for further development through trade, investment,\ntechnology development, and cooperation among industry players. Against\nthis backdrop, the two countries held a meeting to discuss constructive\ncooperation aimed at strengthening their respective industrial\nsectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see this meeting as a concrete expression of our joint efforts to\ncontinue advancing the economy, particularly in the industrial and\nmanufacturing sectors,\u201d Vice Minister of Industry, Faisol Riza, said\nduring a meeting with Bulgaria\u2019s Vice Minister of Economy, Investment\nand Industry Mihaela Georgieva Karadimova on September 14.<\/p>\n<p>The cooperation is supported by growing economic ties. In 2025, total\ntrade between Indonesia and Bulgaria reached approximately USD230.5\nmillion, with average annual growth of 13.34 percent over the 2021\u20132025\nperiod. Indonesia\u2019s exports to Bulgaria reached USD147.4 million in\n2025, recording average annual growth of 31.13 percent over the same\nperiod.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian products exported to the Bulgarian market include ores and\nslag, aluminum, rubber, iron and steel, palm oil and its derivatives,\nand paper.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of investment, Bulgarian investment in Indonesia totaled\nUSD5.59 million between 2021 and 2025. The figure reflects economic ties\nthat still have considerable room for expansion, particularly through\ninvestment in the manufacturing sector. Potential areas include the\ndevelopment of production facilities for agro-based industries and\nmachine tools, as well as industrial cluster development.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Director General of Industrial Resilience, Regional\nDevelopment and International Industrial Access (KPAII) at the Ministry\nof Industry Tri Supondy, said industrial cooperation between Indonesia\nand Bulgaria could be expanded beyond trade to include investment and\nknowledge exchange.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooperation between Indonesia and Bulgaria could focus on\nstrengthening value-added industries, developing production facilities,\nand exchanging knowledge and technology. Bulgaria\u2019s experience in\ndeveloping industrial clusters could also serve as a reference for the\ndevelopment of industrial zones in Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Industrial cluster development is one area that could be explored\njointly. The model brings together companies, research institutions,\nuniversities, and government agencies within a single ecosystem to\nsupport industrial development.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia is open to learning from Bulgaria\u2019s experience in\nimplementing industrial cluster models in Europe, including the\ndevelopment of Eco-Industrial Parks.
