Speaking in Malang, East Java, on Saturday, Manager of the\nEnvironmental Pillar at the National SDGs Secretariat Rachman Kurniawan\nsaid the program is preparing 50 leaders to spearhead local action.<\/p>\n
According to Rachman, efforts to accelerate SDG implementation on the\nground face several challenges, including limited human resource\ncapacity, financial constraints, and tight timelines.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, he expressed optimism that sustainable development\ngoals can still be achieved through collaboration and mutual cooperation\nled by local leaders.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe SDG Certified Leadership Program is expected to produce leaders\nwho can champion SDG implementation on the ground across various regions\nin Indonesia,\u201d Rachman said.<\/p>\n
He added that the program goes beyond providing theoretical\nknowledge, serving as a living laboratory where stakeholders collaborate\non funding, concrete action, and ideas that support major national\ninitiatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot reach these targets through massive national-level\nprograms alone. Instead, we want to complement them with actions that\nmay seem small, but when aggregated, create a meaningful impact,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The program includes workshops, discussions, assignments, mentoring,\nand the development of capstone projects. This year, it attracted 947\napplicants from 631 institutions across 32 provinces before being\nnarrowed down to 50 participants.<\/p>\n
The ministry is encouraging participants to continue expanding their\nimpact after the program ends.<\/p>\n
To support long-term continuity, Rachman said the Ministry of\nNational Development Planning is establishing an alumni networking\nplatform. Through the network, alumni are expected to collaborate and\npromote the replication and scaling up of their initiatives through\nmutual cooperation.<\/p>\n
He reaffirmed that the ministry will continue to facilitate, advocate\nfor, and endorse these initiatives until they are fully operational,\nensuring that grassroots collective action becomes an integral part of\nefforts to accelerate SDG achievement.<\/p>\n
