        "content": "<p>Indonesia and Singapore are finalising plans to export clean\nelectricity and positioning the Riau Islands as a hub for sustainable\ntechnology industries.<\/p>\n<p>Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated in\nJakarta on Sunday that the clean electricity export plan from Indonesia\nto Singapore is intended not merely as energy commerce, but also as a\ncatalyst for attracting high-technology industrial investment. The\ngovernment seeks to leverage abundant green energy to encourage global\ncompanies to establish production facilities and technology centres in\nthe Batam, Bintan and Karimun (BBK) region, enabling the area to develop\ninto Indonesia\u2019s newest green industrial hub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have received reports that the industrial zone is almost\nfinalised. We shall develop it in the Riau Islands region. I am\ncurrently clearing this up. Once completed, I believe this represents\nsignificant progress in preparation,\u201d said Bahlil.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore\u2019s Minister Tan See Leng welcomed the technical progress of\nthis cooperation. \u201cI believe most technical discussions have made good\nprogress,\u201d said Tan See Leng.<\/p>\n<p>Both nations also discussed developing a sustainable industrial zone\nin Batam, Bintan and Karimun during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The government is preparing a framework ensuring domestic electricity\nneeds remain prioritised before exports, whilst opening opportunities\nfor low-carbon technology cooperation such as carbon capture and storage\n(CCS).<\/p>\n<p>Another key discussion point concerned electricity exports. Bahlil\nproposed exporting electricity from solar power plants (PLTS), aligned\nwith the 100-gigawatt (GW) electricity programme built to meet domestic\ndemand and enable exports to neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n<p>However, pricing challenges exist, with green energy prices exceeding\nfossil fuel prices.<\/p>\n<p>Both ministers agreed this synergy demonstrates energy leadership in\nASEAN. With Singapore\u2019s technical support and investment alongside\nIndonesia\u2019s abundant resources, the vision of becoming a key player in\nthe green energy supply chain is now on track.<\/p>",
