Indonesia has been independent from colonial rule for almost
\n50 years. But so far we have not felt that prosperity is equally
\nspread. I am not saying that our agents of development have
\nfailed in giving substance to freedom. Judging from what we could
\nwitness in real life, we should act wisely and always exercise
\nintrospection. Seen from the social economical point of view, the
\ngap between the haves and the have-nots keeps widening. It is
\nvery difficult for the little people to make both ends meet. On
\nthe other hand, there are people who live glamorous lives,
\npossessing a lot of cash and land.<\/p>\n
To run a business is one alternative to escape poverty. But it
\nis only in theory because almost all lines of business has been
\ndominated by certain parties. I am concerned about the possible
\nconsequence of this situation. In the course of time, this
\nunderprivileged group might engage in a movement with or without
\nsupport from a third party.<\/p>\n
I am not jealous of the success achieved by a certain group
\nwho has taken control of the Indonesian economy. The people know
\nhow the group has grown so fast, it pays little attention to
\nworkers' welfare. Will this condition ever come to an end?<\/p>\n
