Indonesia and China will jointly thwart any foreign powers with\nmalicious intentions. The statement was made by Chinese Defence Minister\nAdmiral Dong Jun during a visit to Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie\nSjamsoeddin at the Ministry of Defence office in Jakarta on Friday\n(21\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will together foil the malicious intentions of foreign powers and\nset an example for Global South countries to pursue a new model of\ndefence cooperation,\u201d Dong Jun said in a joint press conference with\nSjafrie.<\/p>\n
According to him, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and\nPresident Prabowo Subianto, relations between the two countries are at a\nnew starting point. China and Indonesia, as a community with a shared\nfuture, have common interests in maintaining security and\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe bear a shared responsibility, and it is the right time to\nstrengthen defence cooperation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He stated that the two countries will gather positive forces to\nmaintain regional stability, prevent and control actions that undermine\nthe post-World War II international order established in 1945.<\/p>\n
\u201cStirring up the situation in the region and striving to promote\npeace, security and prosperity in the region through constructive\ncooperation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dong Jun arrived in Indonesia on Thursday (20\/8), landing at I Gusti\nNgurah Rai International Airport in Bali. His arrival in Indonesia was\nwelcomed directly by Sjafrie.<\/p>\n
