        "content": "<p>Indonesia Achieves Highest Export Record Since Independence<br>\nTuesday, 04 July, 2006 | 12:48 WIB<\/p>\n<p>TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Indonesia achieved export value amounting to US$8.34 billion in May this year, a 9.79 percent increase over the previous month. The export value is the highest ever since the country\u2019s independence.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rusman Heriawan, Head of the Central Statistics Bureau (BPS), if this is compared to the same period last year, May\u2019s export value rose by 16.10 percent. \u201cIndonesia\u2019s export performance in the last five months is indeed excellent,\u201d he said in Jakarta yesterday (3\/7).<\/p>\n<p>He foresees that Indonesia\u2019s export value until the end of this year can equal nearly US$100 billion (around Rp920 trillion). Under the requirements, with exports running well, demands from other countries remain high and the world\u2019s economy is favorable.<\/p>\n<p>During January to May this year, Indonesia\u2019 export value has reached US$38.4 billion. The value rose by 13.40 percent compared to the same period last year. This increase is due to the growth in oil and gas as well as non oil and gas exports.<\/p>\n<p>Oil and gas exports rose by 7.22 percent from US$1.7 billion to US$1.8 billion. This growth is because of the rise of the export of oil products by 7.22 percent from US$211.9 million to US$227.2 million. Gas exports also increased by 13.99 percent from US819.6 million to US$933.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>Crude oil exports dropped by 1.43 percent from US$637.2 million to US$628.0 million. Indonesia\u2019s crude oil price in the world\u2019s market escalated from US$68.92 per barrel as of April this year to US$70.01 as of May this year.<\/p>\n<p>Oil and gas exports in May this year reached US$6.6 billion, a 10.52 percent growth rate compared to the previous month amounting to US$5.9 billion. From January until May 2006, the non oil and gas export value reached US$29.8 billion or a 12.22 percent increase over the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Kurniasih Budi<\/p>",
