        "content": "<p>Indofood, Nestle form joint venture<\/p>\n<p>PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, the world's largest instant noodle<br>\nproducer, announced on Thursday the forming of a joint venture<br>\nfirm with Switzerland-based food giant Nestle S.A., in a bid to<br>\nexpand the operation of the two companies locally and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>In a press statement, the publicly listed Indofood said the<br>\njoint venture firm was called PT Nestle Indofood Citarasa<br>\nIndonesia, with both Indofood and Nestle having an equal share in<br>\nthe firm.<\/p>\n<p>The firm is expected to engage in manufacturing, selling,<br>\nmarketing and distributing culinary products in Indonesia and<br>\neventually for export.<\/p>\n<p>Indofood, which was founded by tycoon Sudono Salim -- a close<br>\npall of former president Soeharto -- will license to the new<br>\njoint-venture firm its food brands, such as Indofood and Piring<br>\nLombok.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nestle will initially give licenses for the firm to<br>\nuse its Maggi brand.<\/p>\n<p>The joint-venture firm is expected to commence operation by<br>\nApril 1.<\/p>\n<p>Indofood shares ended lower by Rp 10 to Rp 950 on the Jakarta<br>\nStock Exchange on Thursday. -- JP<\/p>",
