Indofood greets competitors<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, the country's largest
\ninstant-noodle producer with 90 percent of the domestic market,
\nsays it warmly welcomes new competitors.<\/p>\n
The company's president, Sudwikatmono, said after the opening
\nof a bazaar organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade that
\nthe entrance of new players would increase healthy competition in
\nthe instant-noodle industry.<\/p>\n
Sudwikatmono, as quoted by Antara Monday, confirmed that
\nbusinessmen Hutomo Mandala Putra and Ricardo Gelael were about to
\nenter the industry. He said they had consulted him on it.<\/p>\n
He said that Indofood did not want to monopolize the instant-
\nnoodle industry.<\/p>\n
But he said his company planned to raise its production
\ncapacity.<\/p>\n
Up to 14 billion packets of instant noodles a year can be
\nproduced domestically.<\/p>\n
Sudwikatmono said the Investment Coordinating Board had never
\nobjected to his company's plan to raise its production capacity,
\nwhich is expected to increase the country's noodle exports. (10)<\/p>",
