INDONESIA: India is offering over 150 scholarships to Indonesians
\nevery year to study at India's top educational institutions, an
\nIndian Embassy official said.<\/p>\n
"India has awarded over 150 scholarships to Indonesian
\nstudents in 2004. We will award these scholarships every year in
\nthe spirit of South-South Cooperation," Kaisar Alam, the second
\nsecretary at the embassy, told The Jakarta Post on Friday during
\na reception hosted by Indian Ambassador to Indonesia H.K. Singh.<\/p>\n
The reception, mostly attended by Indonesian alumni who
\nstudied in India, was organized in connection with the
\ncelebration of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC)
\nand Foreign Students' Day.<\/p>\n
"So far, more than 1,000 Indonesian students, experts and
\nofficials have either studied or undergone training in India's
\npremier educational institutions," Alam, who deals with matters
\nrelating to information, education and culture at the embassy,
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Most of the scholarships are available to study information
\ntechnology (IT) in India. Indonesians can also join courses in
\nirrigation, auditing and accounting, urban development,
\nmanagement, diplomacy, journalism, agriculture and remote
