        "content": "<p>India needs IT experts<\/p>\n<p>NEW DELHI (AFP): India is short of some 67,000 computer<br>\nspecialists and programmers, according to the findings of a<br>\nsurvey published Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Dewang Mehta, chief of India's National Association of<br>\nSoftware and Service Companies (Nasscom) said its joint-study<br>\nwith US consultancy firm McKinsey and Co. showed the shortage<br>\ncould rise to some 2.2 million workers by 2008.<\/p>\n<p>\"Companies have projected a demand for 140,000 knowledge<br>\nworkers between 2000-2001 and only 73,000 new IT professionals<br>\nare available to the industry on an annual basis,\" said the<br>\nsurvey published in the Economic Times.<\/p>\n<p>Mehta told AFP the job market would remain tight.<\/p>\n<p>\"According to the Nasscom-McKinsey survey India will require a<br>\nminimum of 2.2 million workers by 2008,\" he said.<\/p>",
