Jakarta - A couple was caught engaging in an indecent act inside an\nonline taxi in the Cipulir area of Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The\ncouple is now under police scrutiny. The driver, identified only as AR,\nrecounted the initial moment he grew suspicious of the alleged improper\nbehaviour by his two passengers. He said that while on a trip from\nCentral Jakarta to South Jakarta, he became wary halfway through the\njourney when the female passenger repeatedly lay down and rested her\nhead on the man\u2019s lap. To confirm his suspicions, AR adjusted the centre\nrear-view mirror and claimed to have witnessed the indecent act taking\nplace between them.<\/p>\n
\u201cI started lowering the centre mirror, I lowered the centre mirror.\nThat\u2019s when I began to admonish them,\u201d AR explained to reporters on\nThursday (12 February). AR said the passengers initially ignored his\nwarning and remained in their original positions. However, after he\nraised his voice, the female passenger began to sit up. He claimed to\nhave noticed that their clothing was dishevelled. \u201cI saw the woman\u2019s\nclothes were all messed up. The man\u2019s trousers were also not properly\narranged,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n
AR also explained that he did not want to act rashly by immediately\nasking the passengers to leave, as this could affect the orders assigned\nto his account. On the other hand, he justified uploading a video of the\nalleged indecent act, stating that he only wanted to educate online taxi\npassengers to behave courteously towards one another.<\/p>\n
Gojek has taken firm action against the couple. The accounts of the\nonline taxi passengers have now been permanently blocked. \u201cBased on the\ninvestigation, it was confirmed that the passengers committed a\nviolation. We have suspended or permanently blocked the passenger\u2019s\naccount,\u201d said Head of Corporate Affairs for ODS, Rosel Lavina, in a\nstatement on Sunday (15 February 2026).<\/p>\n
She explained that this step was taken to prevent such incidents from\nrecurring and to ensure the company\u2019s ecosystem remains safe and free\nfrom indecent acts and other forms of violations. \u201cWe also urge driver\npartners to report any violations through official channels, such as the\nhelp page in the Gojek Driver app. In emergency situations, both driver\npartners and customers can use the emergency button in the app, which\nconnects directly to Gojek\u2019s Emergency Unit\/Task Force, available 24\nhours a day,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
\u201cGojek is committed to providing a safe ecosystem for both customers\nand driver partners. This is achieved through a series of preventive\nmeasures and strict enforcement against violators,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
The police have obtained the identity of the online taxi booker.\nPolice have provided an update on the investigation into the alleged\nindecent act by the couple in the online taxi in the Cipulir area of\nKebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. Currently, the police\nare still conducting their investigation. \u201cWe will carry out\nexaminations in the future. The investigation is ongoing, and we have\nalready taken a statement from the online taxi driver.
