In welcoming Nyepi Day on\nthe island of Bali, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) will temporarily\nhalt ferry crossings on the Java\u2013Bali and Lombok routes as a mark of\nrespect for the Hindu holy day.<\/p>\n
The operational adjustment is made as part of the national transport\narrangements to maintain order and honour the Catur Brata Penyepian\nobservance on Bali.<\/p>\n
The temporary suspension will take effect at Ketapang Port from 17:00\nWIB on 18 March to 06:00 WIB on 20 March; at Gilimanuk Port from 05:00\nWITA on 19 March to 06:00 WITA on 20 March; at Lembar Port from 21:00\nWITA on 18 March to 01:30 WITA on 20 March; and at Padangbai Port from\n04:00 WITA on 19 March to 11:30 WITA on 20 March.<\/p>\n
Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transport,\nAan Suhanan, said the policy is also motivated by Nyepi coinciding with\nthe Lebaran 2026 period, which is expected to see a surge in\nmobility.<\/p>\n
The government has prepared a range of traffic-management schemes to\nanticipate movements during 13\u201329 March. The measures include optimising\nthe MB Pier and LCM facilities on the Ketapang\u2013Gilimanuk route, and\noperating alternative routes via Tanjung Wangi\u2013Gilimas Port and\nJangkar\u2013Lembar Port.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis step aims to distribute vehicle flow to keep it smooth, safe\nand controlled during the peak mudik period,\u201d Aan said in a written\nstatement on Wednesday (4\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
In addition to redirecting vehicles, the government has also\nintroduced a delaying system via buffer zones on toll and non-toll roads\nand geofencing with a radius of 2.65 kilometres from Ketapang Port and 2\nkilometres from Gilimanuk Port.<\/p>\n
Optimising Services<\/p>\n
In line with these policies, ASDP ensures ferry services remain\noptimised to face the Lebaran period.<\/p>\n
President Director of ASDP, Heru Widodo, emphasised that the company\ncontinues to strengthen operational readiness to safeguard passengers\nand ensure smooth journeys.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are committed to always prioritising the safety of service users.\nWe are taking preventive steps so that ferry services remain reliable\nand provide a sense of security for the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To address potential extreme weather during the mudik period, ASDP\ncontinues to coordinate with the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and\nGeophysics Agency (BMKG).<\/p>\n
BMKG forecasts remain vigilant for heavy rain in several areas,\nincluding Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and the mountainous regions of\nPapua. In March\u2013April, waves of moderate height (about 1.25\u20132.5 metres)\nare expected in the southern waters from Java to NTT.<\/p>\n
As a mitigation measure, ASDP has placed tugboats on standby to\nassist vessel manoeuvring in strong winds and currents. On the\nKetapang\u2013Gilimanuk route, the number of vessels operating has been\nincreased from 28 to 32 to bolster capacity and maintain traffic flow\nfor passengers and vehicles during the peak period.<\/p>\n
In Lebaran 2026, national mobility is projected to rise\nsignificantly. Nationally, ASDP expects total movements of around 5.8\nmillion passengers and 1.4 million vehicles.<\/p>\n
For the Java\u2013Bali corridor, passenger numbers are forecast to grow by\nabout 10% and vehicles by 9.3% from the previous period.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the reverse flow from Bali to Java is also anticipated to\nrise, with passenger growth around 9.5% and a 8.7% increase in\nvehicles.<\/p>\n
Corporate Secretary Windy Andale explained that to support smooth\noperations, the company has prepared 350 personnel at Ketapang Port and\n250 personnel at Gilimanuk Port to be stationed at the ports, buffer\nzones and other critical points.<\/p>\n
Windy urged the public to plan travel earlier and to purchase tickets\nvia the official Ferizy platform, which has been bookable since H-60\nbefore departure.<\/p>\n
\u201cAvoid purchasing tickets from touts and ensure personal data matches\nidentity so the journey proceeds smoothly,\u201d Windy said.<\/p>\n
Through Ferizy, service users also receive travel flexibility,\nincluding a 25% refund and a 10% discount on rescheduling, enabling\npeople to adjust plans according to weather conditions.<\/p>\n
