        "content": "<p>Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna (KDS) has stated he always maintains\nan emotional bond with Kampung Mahmud in Mekarrahayu Village, Margaasih\nDistrict, especially since he first ran for regent and visited the\nlegendary village several times. His visit under the Friday Mobile\n(Jumling) programme at the Mahmud Grand Mosque on Friday, 19 June 2026,\nbecame a moment to foster ties while ensuring various development and\ncommunity religious programmes continue. \u201cI have just returned here and\nhave missed Kampung Mahmud. Besides possessing strong historical and\nreligious value, this village is one of the religious icons of Bandung\nRegency,\u201d KDS said. During the visit, KDS also inspected a number of\nroad sections around Mekarrahayu Village that have been completed\nthrough the Bandung Regency Government\u2019s infrastructure development\nprogramme. According to him, road construction is part of efforts to\nimprove public accessibility while supporting the social, economic, and\nreligious activities of residents in the area. In addition to\ninfrastructure development, KDS affirmed his commitment to continuing\nthe incentive programme for Quran teachers even though the regional\ngovernment faces fiscal challenges due to reduced transfers from the\ncentral government. \u201cIncentives for Quran teachers will continue. This\nis our commitment because the role of Quran teachers is immense in\nbuilding the character of the younger generation and safeguarding\nreligious values within society,\u201d he said. The Quran teacher incentive\nprogramme, one of the Bandung Regency Government\u2019s flagship initiatives,\nhas been provided to thousands of Quran teachers, mosque caretakers, and\nreligious figures as recognition for their contribution to community\nreligious education. On the occasion, KDS also reminded attendees of the\nimportance of maintaining and preserving the historical values of\nKampung Mahmud, known as one of the oldest religious areas in Bandung\nRegency. Kampung Mahmud was founded by the Islamic proselytiser Eyang\nDalem Abdul Manaf, who is believed to be descended from the early\nspreaders of Islam in Sundanese lands. The area is known as a\ntraditional Islamic village that still maintains a number of traditions\nand local wisdom. The Mahmud Grand Mosque, which serves as the centre of\ncommunity religious activities, also has its own uniqueness.\nHistorically, the mosque building was constructed by adhering to a\nnumber of customary rules inherited from predecessors, including the use\nof building materials adapted to local traditions, such as extensive use\nof wood and bamboo. According to KDS, the existence of Kampung Mahmud is\nnot only a historical heritage but also a centre of moral and spiritual\neducation that must be continuously safeguarded by the younger\ngeneration. \u201cWe must preserve the legacy of the ulama and saints who\nbuilt Islamic civilisation in this area. Kampung Mahmud holds immense\nhistorical value for Bandung Regency,\u201d he said. KDS\u2019s presence at the\nJumling activity was appreciated by the community. Roby Prasetya (29), a\nresident of Mekarrahayu Village, expressed gratitude for the attention\ngiven by the Bandung Regency Government to development in his area.\n\u201cThank you, Regent, for coming to my village. The roads are already\ngood, even though only partially. Hopefully the rest can also be\nconcreted soon. May the Regent always be healthy,\u201d he stated. A similar\nsentiment was conveyed by Muhamad Zakaria (16), a resident of Kampung\nMahmud. He hopes activities like Jumling can continue so the community\ncan interact directly with their leader. \u201cTo the Regent, please come to\nmy village often.
