The letter was handed by Sugiono to Iran\u2019s\nAmbassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi during their meeting in\nJakarta. \u2018I am delivering a letter from President Prabowo to President\nMasoud Pezeshkian to convey Indonesia\u2019s deepest condolences on the death\nof Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader,\u2019 the official\nstatement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu RI)\nquoted in Jakarta on Wednesday. In the meeting, Foreign Minister Sugiono\nand Ambassador Boroujerdi discussed the escalation of the Middle East\nsituation due to the US and Israel attacks on Iran that prompted\nTehran\u2019s counter-strikes at several points in the Persian Gulf. On the\nsame occasion, Sugiono also underscored the importance of respecting\ninternational law and the United Nations Charter, and urged diplomatic\nsteps to ease the escalation.
