        "content": "<p>Flooding in Demak Regency, Central Java, caused by the collapse of an\nembankment and overflow from the Tuntang River due to high-intensity\nrainfall, has expanded further, with six villages now recorded as\naffected on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSix villages affected by flooding are spread across three districts\nin Demak Regency, up from just a few villages previously,\u201d said the Head\nof the Demak Regency BPBD Implementation Agency, Agus Sukiyono, in Demak\non Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that the largest number of affected villages is in Guntur\nDistrict, with four villages: Trimulyo, Sidoarjo, Turitempel, and\nSumberejo.<\/p>\n<p>The number of residents\u2019 houses affected by flooding in Guntur\nDistrict is still being tallied, as the embankment breach location is\nalso in that district.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also recorded four residents\u2019 houses in Trimulyo Village that\ncollapsed because their location is near the breached embankment,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in Karangtengah District, he said, there is one village\naffected by flooding, namely Ploso Village, with 150 affected houses\nimpacting 600 people and two places of worship.<\/p>\n<p>For Wonosalam District, he added, there is one village, namely\nLempuyangan Village. Meanwhile, the number of affected houses is also\nstill being tallied.<\/p>\n<p>To date, he said, joint teams are still conducting evacuations of\nresidents to safer locations.<\/p>\n<p>The Demak Regency Government together with joint teams has carried\nout several handling measures, including coordination with village\ngovernments and Forkopimcam, assessment of affected areas, distribution\nof sandbags for emergency embankment handling, provision of evacuation\nsites at several points, such as village halls and district offices.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, ongoing efforts include monitoring affected areas,\ndamage assessments, and cross-agency coordination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, water discharge in several hamlets such as Solowere and\nSolondoko is still high. Affected residents have been evacuated to the\nTrimulyo Village Hall. The embankment that collapsed in Solondoko\nHamlet, Trimulyo Village, is reported to be about 30 metres long,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Flood levels in each village vary, between 20 centimetres (cm) and 80\ncm.<\/p>",
