Impact of busway project<\/p>\n

The construction of busway facilities is apparently underway,
\nwith bus-stops and cross bridges being erected in several places.
\nThis will be followed by curbs to separate the right busway lane
\nfrom the other two (in the middle and on the left), beside the
\nfar-left slow lane.<\/p>\n
The question is whether the decision to use the right lane has
\nbeen based on research rather than assumption. The busway project
\nshould ensure smooth traffic in the middle and left lanes as
\nexpected by the public. But, is it possible to reduce the traffic
\n-- now taking up three lanes -- to two lanes?<\/p>\n
If it has been theorized that the busway will be used by a
\nthird of road users, this seems entirely mistaken. The busway
\nroute will only be used by present bus passengers and some
\nprivate car owners, while the other two lanes will remain packed
\nby the greater part of the cars currently on the road.<\/p>\n
In my view, the decision to monopolize one of the already
\ncongested lanes, is not appropriate. It is better to operate a
\nmonorail or subway system because it does not need to use the
\nroad.<\/p>\n
