        "content": "<p>The government has begun preparing anticipatory measures regarding\nthe potential spread of the Ebola outbreak via international travel\nroutes. Supervision of travellers from affected countries in Africa is\ncurrently being discussed across various ministries.<\/p>\n<p>The Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human\nRights, Hendarsam Marantoko, stated that the government is discussing\npossible restrictions or stricter supervision for foreign nationals and\ntravellers from areas affected by Ebola.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are currently reviewing this,\u201d said Hendarsam when responding to\nquestions regarding plans for international travel supervision related\nto the outbreak, on Sunday (17\/5).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to reviewing policies, the Directorate General of\nImmigration has also begun coordinating with the Ministry of Health to\nstrengthen vigilance at entry points.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hendarsam, instructions have also been given to\nimmigration officers at Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) and regarding visa\napplication processes from countries related to the outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are currently coordinating with the Ministry of Health on this\nmatter and simultaneously instructing personnel at TPIs and those\nhandling visa applications from relevant countries to take anticipatory\nmeasures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>These steps are being taken as part of early prevention efforts to\nminimise the risk of cross-border transmission of infectious diseases\nthrough international travel supervision and inspections at Indonesian\nentry points. (E-4)<\/p>\n<p>The Bundibugyo variant of the Ebola virus, for which there is no\nvaccine, has struck the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing 88 people.\nThe WHO has declared a global health emergency.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic Republic of Congo announced an outbreak of the Ebola\nvirus disease; the Ministry of Health stated that there have been no\ncases in Indonesia. However, monitoring at entry points continues.<\/p>\n<p>Uganda has begun trials of an experimental vaccine to combat the\nSudan strain of the Ebola virus after a new outbreak caused one death\nand two infections.<\/p>\n<p>The WHO stated that it is deploying a team to help Uganda fight the\nEbola outbreak, which has claimed the life of one healthcare worker, a\n32-year-old nurse.<\/p>",
