        "content": "<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Fifteen applications have been identified\nas dangerous because they are capable of stealing personal data and\nfinancial information from users. All of these applications were found\nin the Google Play Store and have been downloaded millions of times.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by McAfee, the total number of downloads of\nthese applications reached 8 million. The majority of them are fake\nonline lending (pinjol) applications, known as Spy Loans.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 15 applications, three are reportedly available in Indonesia.\nThese three applications have been installed by approximately 2 million\nusers in total.<\/p>\n<p>According to McAfee, all of these dangerous applications use names,\nlogos and designs similar to legitimate financial applications. The\ndanger is that the fraudsters also promote fake advertisements on social\nmedia.<\/p>\n<p>Spy Loan applications allow cybercriminals to easily access and steal\nusers\u2019 personal data. Furthermore, these applications can also be used\nto drain victims\u2019 accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The modus operandi used is to offer fake online loans with low\ninterest rates and easy requirements to attract potential victims. After\nthe application is downloaded, users will be asked to enter various\npersonal data and financial information.<\/p>\n<p>This data is then used by the perpetrators to terrorize victims. They\ndemand repayment of the loan with very high interest, to the point that\nthe victims have difficulty and are unable to pay.<\/p>\n<p>This fraud targets victims from three regions, namely South America,\nSouth Asia and Africa.
