Illegal slaughter house 'still going'<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: The Tangerang Government Watch group urged
\nofficials to take action against a slaughter house in
\nPanunggangan Barat, Karawaci, which was continuing its operations
\nalthough it was instructed to close last year.<\/p>\n
The watchdog's coordinator Tonny Wismantoro said on Thursday
\nthat the illegal slaughter house was violating environmental laws
\nbecause it was dumping its factory waste directly into a river.<\/p>\n
\"The public order officers should act immediately and not wait
\nfor orders from the city's Capital Investment and Permit Office
\n(KPMP) or the Environmental Impact Management Agency to close the
\nslaughter house down,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Tangerang Council Commission D on development issues chairman
\nAbdul Rozi said that the councillors would ask the officials to
\nclarify why the business was still operating.<\/p>\n
\"In our visit there, the company's spokesman said they had a
\npermit to run a meatball-producing factory. But he was unable to
\nshow the required permits and prevented us from entering the
\nslaughter house,\" Rozi said. -- JP<\/p>",
