        "content": "<p>Illegal RI migrants face U.S. deportation<\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK, U.S. (JP): A total of 1,901 illegal Indonesian<br>\nmigrants in the United States are facing deportation for failing<br>\nto present complete immigration documents.<\/p>\n<p>Out of 12,310 Indonesians who have registered at the<br>\nImmigration and Naturalization Service (INS), 1,901 are currently<br>\nawaiting their court processes, information chief of the<br>\nIndonesian Embassy in Washington D.C. Soehardjono Sastromihardjo<br>\ntold Antara on Tuesday, local time.<\/p>\n<p>The INS had summoned them to appear in court, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\"I don't know when they will be deported. They must wait for<br>\nthe court's decision, including the 62 Indonesians who are in<br>\njail,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>The 62 were detained when they appeared at INS offices, but no<br>\nofficial explanation has been given as to why they were<br>\nimmediately detained, while others were given a summons to appear<br>\nin court.<\/p>\n<p>According to immigration lawyers representing several of the<br>\nmigrants, the Indonesians were detained because they had criminal<br>\nrecords, which include minor violations such as failing to pay<br>\ntraffic fines.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian Embassy and Consulate offices have said they<br>\ncould not do more to help those facing deportation, except to<br>\nprovide them translation services when they appeared in court.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia is one of 25 predominantly Muslim countries whose<br>\nmale citizens have been required to register with the INS. Men<br>\nfrom other countries, mostly Arab and Middle Eastern nations,<br>\nregistered earlier this year.<\/p>",
